Regulated Waste
The University of Richmond generates several wastes that are regulated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality. These include hazardous wastes and medical wastes.
Hazardous Waste
The Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan identifies University departments responsible for emergency response, as well as specific methods of response to spills, fires and flood emergencies involving hazardous waste. Emergency and protective equipment is also described.
The Satellite Accumulation Area (SAA) Checklist should be used as a guideline for maintaining a safe environment in the vicinity of a waste generator.
Medical Waste
The Medical Waste Management Guidelines outline University of Richmond policy on regulated medical waste.
