Residence Halls

Regulations

  • Each year fire and life safety improvements are part of the University's projects list for residence halls
  • Each residence hall and all of the University Forest Apartment (UFA) blocks, except the 1300's and 1400's, is equipped with a state of the art fire detection system that is wired to the central monitoring station at campus police. The fire detection system is monitored 24 hours per day
  • All residence halls have multiple means of egress so to minimize the possibility that more than one exit would have the potential to be blocked by any one fire
  • Each room in the residence halls and UFA has a single station smoke alarm and/or a system smoke detector
  • Fire drills are conducted two times each semester
  • Complete safety inspections are conducted two times per year in each residence hall room
  • Residential Life staff receive fire safety training

Sprinkler Systems

All residence halls are fully sprinkled. UFA are not sprinkled.
